Off and on during the night (I was restless) I was in the study looking out the window. The fog around a streetlight over on range was the most incredible, soft, golden glow. Before sunrise the fog was really thick up here, but the overcast is up at 300 feet, just over our heads. There are breaks in in, but at times its really shadowy out there.
Being groggy, when I first come out to the study with my coffee I was staring out the window. A crow landed and worked on some of the seed that’s scattered on the tray at the end of the porch. The sparrows have been busy around the feeder, having nibbled all the tubes down to the 1/2-way mark and one tube down to 1/2! …but the one hummingbird dipped beak in his and then flew off. Most likely the syrup has soured.
Yes, I slept in this morning. I’m still sleepy and I really dislike having a broken night’s sleep like last night. At least I’m home today. If it had to happen any night of the week, that worked just fine!
Oh, that’s bright sunshine for a moment, bright enough to make shadows! …and gone again. It’s supposed to be partly sunny today.
When the sun comes out it makes the pink roses under the alder, the “confetti” roses, glow. Wow… that bush has put out some new growth! I didn’t think a tiny bit of rain would do *that* much, but I guess it did.
Tempus got the pottery & glassware area cleaned up first thing this morning, ran a damp mop and then later the vacuum to make sure that all the glass shards were gone.
After that we re-potted the rubber plant. Hopefully it won’t shock too badly. …and then we got sidetracked and he forgot to put the potting soil and the pot somewhere. Oh, well.
That’ll happen on Wednesday, I guess, along with getting that small shelf fastened in place. Part of the issue there, since you probably haven’t looked at it….is that Dad intended it for a bookshelf in his private office and gave it a cardboard back which is starting to look dreadful…. so it’s going to get a fabric one before it gets fastened to the other shelf. After that I can move the rest of the “garage sale” items to that shelf and get rid of that extra table behind the Divination case.
The herb and crystal prep and packing got put off, too. I ended up working with people most of the day, customers and counseling mostly, but ended up so tired that when the fog rolled in and everything went quiet I just sat and dozed. I did a little filing and a little sorting and puttered, but nothing really accomplished.
The fog must have rolled in after mid-afternoon, but it was around 5 when I looked outside and was startled to see billows of fog rolling down the highway. It was thick over the buildings and dimming even the windows on the other side of Arrow…..
Tempus worked at the house all day, cleaning the floors and walls and he started on the bathroom fan that needed some TLC. He went to the grocery store after we closed up. I did count and got some of the last computer/website updates done before he came back to get me, and then when we got home, we had dinner and just went to bed. He made some of his awesome hamburgers.
Today we’re going to do house chores and I have the newsletter files to catch up on. Some plants need to get shifted and we’re going to move the gazebo pieces to the back.
Today is the anniversary of the event in Washington DC where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous “I have a dream” speech. More info on Wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Have_a_Dream There is a video of the speech linked to this page, at least ¾ of the way down a long page! http://www.wilsonsalmanac.com/book/aug28.html
The shop is closed on Tuesdays. Summer hours, 10am-7pm, Wednesday through Monday. If we’re supposed to be closed, but it looks like we’re there, try the door. If it’s open, the shop’s open!

As twilight fades, spot Arcturus high in the west. Look far to its lower left (in Virgo) for Saturn, Spica below it, and Mars to Saturn’s left. This triangle is lengthening each evening Saturn and Spica move to the lower right.
Venus (magnitude –4.3, in Gemini) rises in deep darkness around 3 a.m. daylight saving time (depending on where you are), emerging above the east-northeast horizon like a UFO a good two hours before the first glimmer of dawn. By dawn it’s blazing high in the east — vastly outshining Pollux and Castor to its left and Procyon below it or to its lower right.

Affirmation/Thought for the Day – Take your shoes off and go barefoot.
~ Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
~ To become a butterfly, do you think that it feels fear as it breaks out of the cocoon? Though it’s fear may be unfounded, once it’s wings are spread, it soars to new heights it could not imagine as a caterpillar. So, when feeling the pangs of anxiety and fear, find yourself a moment and imagine yourself as an emerging butterfly. ~ Wravyn

Sweep Away the Past Spell – Incense of the day: Cedar (applies to fall cleaning, too!)
During Passover, Jews are not allowed to eat chametz, or leavened bread, or to have any in their possession. Homes are traditionally cleaned from top to bottom, so as not to allow for the possibly of a single breadcrumb to remain. Likewise, this is the perfect time to do your own spring-cleaning, both of the physical and the spiritual sort. As you sweep, vacuum, and scrub, imagine removing any negativity that has built up right along with the dust and dirt. When you are done, set up a white cloth on a table or shelf near the heart of the house and place a bell, sage or cedar incense, a lighter, salt, a chalice or cup filled with water, and a stirring device on this altar. Place a new broom nearby, then use the broom to symbolically sweep the house, beginning in the back rooms and always going toward the door. Open the door and sweep all of the negativity that you have gathered outside, saying:
“I sweep out the old and gather in the new.”
Shut the door and return to the altar. Light the incense, saying:
“By air and fire, I cleanse and bless my home. Let it be a place of wisdom and love.”
Go around the house in a clockwise circle, smudging, making sure to get into every nook and cranny. Finally, pour three spoonfuls of salt into the water and stir, saying,
“By water and earth, I cleanse and bless my home. May it be a place of healing and sanctuary.”
Repeat the clockwise circle, carrying a chalice of salt water from which you carefully sprinkle. Return to the altar and ask for the blessings of your patron deities.
“By my will, and with your blessings, this rite is done.”
Ring the bell.

Reap the Harvest Spell
When we find ourselves repeatedly in situations that yield a grim emotional, spiritual, or physical harvest, we need to look inward to ascertain if the seeds that we are sowing will grow the crops that we desire. To do this, light a green or brown candle. Place malachite in front of the candle representing your heartfelt desire for change. Focusing on the candle, ask for guidance from your higher self in discovering your heart’s desires and ambitions. Script these desires in a visual present tense. State these or similar words:
The universe unfolds her abundant path for me.
Her fruitful harvest is mine,
So mote it be.
Focus the stream of your visualizations on the malachite. That is, visualize the malachite lending vibrations to your vision as it sends your energy out to the universe. Afterward, extinguish the candle. Hold onto the malachite as a reminder of your heart’s harvest. ~Karen Follet

GCF: Cold Air
One afternoon, while touring the Canyonlands of southern Utah, my husband and I pulled into the only hotel in a small town. While signing the register, we asked the young woman behind the desk if our room was air-conditioned.
When she shook her head no, we hesitated, wondering if we should push on to the next town.
Sensing our doubt, she brightened as she came up with a solution. “Just turn on the heater,” she suggested. “Our customers tell us all that comes out is cold air anyway.”
