Daily Stuff 3-16-13 Montsegur

Hi, folks!

weather rain UmbrellaIt’s dim and grey. No rain, but the chance is 100% today. We were supposed to have a dry weekend. What happened? The birds are gradually denuding the fabric strip grid and they’ve emptied the feeder, almost completely.

Yesterday was a long day. Tempus and I were both tired and started the day that way, which made it even longer. I dropped him off, did my “opening chores” and drove to Newport.

product pendulum AventurineThe radio ad get-together was interesting. There were about a dozen Waldport businesses represented. This is Cheryl’s (the owner of KCUP) way of promoting business in our area. Part of what made her realize how bad things were getting is that she hasn’t run a single Waldport ad this winter! No one can afford them. So, she asked questions. Larry ran the taping. We answered and made statements about our businesses. Done! I bailed as soon as mine was done and headed back to the shop. There were about 8 people to go at that point.

product pendulum chamberDuring the day we had a number of customers in. Tempus finished prepping the sage and there are new big bags of it up. I worked on “The Lost”. That’s what we’re starting to call the various pieces of stock that have wandered out of place. Despite all of the stuff that we found during that major inventory push there are pieces that because they’re not finished, need another piece (like a drawstring), a bit of hand-stitching, breakage or need of washing, have gotten stashed somewhere and then forgotten. I’ve been methodically going through the “sort” boxes and come up with quite a bit. I even had a few pendulums where someone had gotten rough and popped the link to the chain!

Today is all workshops and we’re starting the new one today!

Herbs Workshop is at 11. Depending on who’s there we’ll either be making incense or just doing prep, which means learning techniques and tools for grinding.

dragon pendulumsCrystals, which starts at Noon, will be on Quartz crystals and we’ll be opening two of the tumblers.

The Children’s Craft Hour ages 3-8 is at 1pm, 8-14 is at 2pm. Both will be doing either a bead project or a pin.

witch pendulumSewing Workshop is at 3pm. It’s a BYOP (bring your own project) day. I’m going to be working with a new shaped and stiffened pouch and will be set up to teach the basic amulet pouch style.

The new report is out on the PNW quake that we’re expecting. It’s a scary article, but it’s nice to live in a town that’s actually trying to getting ready. The school is already mostly moved since the new building was finished this winter. We have our drills and the kids know what to do. Now, do their parents? …and who is going to go fetch the disabled in Old Town….  http://www.wunderground.com/news/northwest-quake-threat-20130315

Celtic tree month Ash NuinFraxinus_latifolia_JPG1FeCeltic Tree Month of Nuin/Nion, Ash. The common ash (Fraxinus excelsior L.) is a major tree of lowland forests in much of Europe, along with oaks and beeches. It grows to 40 m (130 feet) in open sites, with a broad crown reminiscent of American elm trees. Ash was and still is an important timber tree, and is a traditional material for the handle of a besom. The common ash is occasionally cultivated in North America, and similar native ash species are widely grown as street trees. Ashes are members of the Olive family (Oleaceae).

This wedding of Kadmos and Harmonia was the first, we are told, for which the gods provided the marriage-feast, and Demeter, becoming enamoured of Iasion, presented him with the fruit of the corn, Hermes gave a lyre, Athene the renowned necklace and a robe and a flute, and Elektra the sacred rites of the Great Mother of the Gods [Rhea], as she is called, together with cymbals and kettledrums and the instruments of the ritual; and Apollon played upon the lyre and the Mousai upon their flutes, and the rest of the gods spoke them fair and gave the pair their aid in the celebration of the weding. After this Kadmos, they say, in accordance with the oracle he had received, founded Thebes in Boiotia. – Diodorus Siculus, 5.48.2

Magick – Ostara

From the Rose of the Sea Ostara Ritual 2010 by Rowan

Priestess: The soil beneath me has given the shelter I needed through the long, cold winter. Now I arise to accept the warmth of our Sun Lord returned. He and I will spend this time of our youth playing in the grassy meadows, climbing the trees of the great forest, and swimming the cool waters of the deepest lakes. I will come to be his friend, and we will be children until Beltane.

Come with me through my lush garden, and let’s play games. Let’s look at the flowers that bloom at this Turn of the Wheel. Do you see the deep reds, the brilliant blues, and pure whites? This is because of our Sun Lord. It’s his brilliant youth that gives me the ability to grow something so beautiful. My only regret is that one day his youth will die. The Wheel turns.

Take this flower! It’s the most beloved in my garden. Smell it. Do you notice that the fragrance is mine? When you smell this scent remember me. In turn I will wear this flower in my hair everyday until I am ready to give up my maidenhood at Beltane. Then I will lie down with him. We will make love with each other. He will father a sun, and I will carry it to Yule after his death. Then he will be reborn again. His brilliance will return, and we can play in the garden at the next Ostara. The wheel turns.

Maidens, take from me this flower! It’s the one gift I have for you. Let those you want to be your lovers smell it, and then wear it in your hair. When they see you wearing the flower they’ll remember the scent of me. In this way I will help you to build the love you desire during you maidenhood. At Beltain you will be ready to give it to the young man who smelled your flower.

The Wheel is turning. It does for everyone. Remember this. For if you do. When it’s time for you to be a child you will live those moments to their fullest potential.

So Mote it be

All: so mote it be.
