Yesterday, almost as soon as the newsletter finished getting linked, the sun came out! It didn’t stay, but it was there off and on. Tempus was soundly asleep, thank goodness. I’m worrying about him getting enough sleep, although he’s fluffing that off. Breakfast was a slice of the cake that I made the night before and a slice of cheese.
He got up just past noon and made coffee, then started in on chores. Laundry and such is where we both started. I had been bleaching a couple of embroidery pieces that had gotten coffee-stained and they turned out great. So, then I got a lot of pictures of various pieces and then sorted socks, and then…. you get the idea. Lots of little bits… Which I find very, very frustrating if they go on too long…. so I stopped and developed the pix and discovered that several needed to be re-taken.
…and then I got a set of Mab’s pix up on the Facebook “Garb for Sale” board. Tempus was working in the kitchen and got a couple of potatoes in so we could get the errands done in the evening.
I got the pictures re-taken, developed and up and then it was time to eat and go, although I re-stocked the rose syrup before we went and by the time we were home it was lower in the bottle than above!
We got to see the most ominous dark sky, that opened up and poured, just as we came down the seawall, but before we got gas and pulled out of the gas station, the sun was bright where we were, so there was an awesome double rainbow that followed us up and over the bridge!
We had a good drive up and back and I got part of what I went for, but they were closing just as we got there! So we came back and did a major food shopping and then had to put that away when we got home. Of course, Tempus did the most of that…. I got some more pictures done at that point.
A beautiful poem, “Our Planet, Our Home” got posted yesterday on No Unsacred Place. Take a look http://nature.pagannewswirecollective.com/2013/06/18/our-planet-our-home/
Today’s feast is that of Ceridwen who is the Mother form of the Triple Goddess worshipped in Wicca and modern paganism, probably derived from the writings of Robert Graves. Goddess of inspiration, she is also goddess of fertility and re-birth, because of her everflowing cauldron. She is not the ancient goddess-form known by this name although the old stories get used as part of her symbolism. This modern feast is celebrated by burning vervain in small cauldrons, tying green ribbons to trees and using green altar coverings and clothing on this day. Here is a Wiki article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerridwen and another on the Triple Goddess http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_Goddess_(Neopaganism)
Today’s Plant is Cascade Oregon Grape, Mahonia aquifolium, or Dull Oregon Grape Mahonia nervosa, occasionally called Holly Grape. It’s a lovely, spiky-leaved large shrub or small tree with amazing clusters of bright, yellow flowers in the early spring. Dull Oregon Grape is a shorter plant with duller leaves with a nerve-like pattern of veins, but they both have the same magickal properties. The locals used it to help with rheumatism and it has been tested to replace Goldenseal in the pharmacopeia with some good results. The fruits can be made into jam or wine, although they’re too sour to eat. Feminine, Earth, carry to draw money and prosperity, or popularity. More on aquifolium here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_grape and on nervosa here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahonia_nervosa

Love & Light,
Today’s Astro & Calendar –
The Moon is Waxing Gibbous. Waxing Moon Magick – The waxing moon is for constructive magick, such as love, wealth, success, courage, friendship, luck or healthy, protection, divination. Any working that needs extra power, such as help finding a new job or healings for serious conditions, can be done now. Also, love, knowledge, legal undertakings, money and dreams. Phase ends at the Full Moon on 6/22 at 4:32am. Waxing Gibbous Moon – From seven to fourteen days after the new moon. For spells that need concentrated work over a ¼ moon cycle this is the best time for constructive workings. Aim to do the last working on the day of the Full moon, before the turn. Keywords for the Gibbous phase are: analyze, prepare, trust. It is the time in a cycle to process the results of the actions taken during the First Quarter. During this phase you are gathering information. Give up making judgments; it will only lead to worry. Your knowledge is incomplete. Laugh. Analyze and filter. LOOK WITHIN. God/dess aspect: Maiden/Youth, but in the uncommitted phase, the Warriors Associated God/desses: Dion, Dionysius, Venus, Thor. Phase ends at the Full on 6/21 at 4:32pm.
This is Midsummer’s Night, the shortest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. The solstice is at 1:04 a.m. on the 21st EDT; 10:04 p.m. on the 20th PDT. Wrote a friend in the Pacific Northwest, “There’ll be bonfires from Kalaloch to Portland tonight.” (which is a quote from a Gaia Consort song!!!)
Look lower left of the Moon at dusk, by almost two fists at arm’s lengths, for orange-red Antares. Between them is the three-star row of the Head of Scorpius, nearly vertical.
Mercury is fading and dropping day by day. Use binoculars in bright twilight.
Goddess Month of Rosea runs from 6/13 – 7/10
Celtic Tree month of Duir/ Oak – Jun 10 – Jul 7 – The oak of myth and legend is the common oak (Quercus robur L.).

Duir Oak – Jun 10 – Jul 7 – The oak of myth and legend is the common oak (Quercus robur L.). It is sometimes called the great oak, which is a translation of its Latin name (robur is the root of the English word “robust”). It grows with ash and beech in the lowland forests, and can reach a height of 150 feet and age of 800 years. Along with ashes, oaks were heavily logged throughout recent millennia, so that the remaining giant oaks in many parts of Europe are but a remnant of forests past. Like most other central and northern European trees, common oaks are deciduous, losing their leaves before Samhain and growing new leaves in the spring so that the trees are fully clothed by Bealltaine. Common oaks are occasionally cultivated in North America, as are the similar native white oak, valley oak, and Oregon oak. Oaks are members of the Beech family (Fagaceae). Curtis Clark

CRYSTAL BALL ADVICE
My crystal ball told me, “Beware!
Beware!” But I wouldn’t listen.
Blinded by hormones and
Loneliness, let you move in.
I thought I knew it all, and I’m not
Even a teenager. But I learned…
Yesterday when I got home from work,
I smelled cheap perfume.
You are hooking again, boyfriend!
And bringing your bimbo clients here.
(Too bad the crystal ball didn’t explain
All about that).
I need to cleanse the apartment
Of your negativity, so I’ll use Broom
Magic to sweep your vibrations out.
Then I’ll throw your things out in the yard,
Burn candles and chant, and put salt
All around the perimeter. And if that
Doesn’t work, maybe the police will
Be interested that you are back working
At your old profession.
I think from now on, I will pay more
Attention to my crystal ball when it
Warns me about something. Now
I will use it to scry for a new boyfriend
That doesn’t hook!

Magick – Litha Prayers
The warm time is here
The warm time is here:
time to work and time to rest,
time to celebrate outside,
time to prepare for the harvest.
All about us, the Land Spirits are singing.
All about us, the deities are speaking.
Help me to listen, all you divine beings.
May I hear your voices.
Invocation of the God
Wielder of the flaming arrow,
look down from your place on high,
and, fitting a shaft to your bow,
let loose your bowstring.
Sink deep into the Earth the shaft of fire,
warming the world, bringing the summer.
Following your course,
laid down in ancient times,
you have come unerringly to the heights of the sky,
there where you can survey the wide Earth with no obstruction.
May all on which you gaze be to your liking!
May all below follow its course as well as you!
You have mounted to your throne in the roof of heaven,
you have achieved the heights.
In the midpoint of the year,
you rule from the midpoint of the sky.
Lord of Light, I praise you as you shine!
Hail to you, noontide Sun
Hail to you, noontide Sun, high in the southern sky. A king in full power are you, sitting high in the heavens’ throne room. And I come to you, as a faithful subject, to ask you to stretch forth your many shining hands and lay them on my head in benediction.
