Daily Stuff 8-24-13 Bartholomew Fair

Hi, folks!

Herbs at 11am. Crystals at noon. Sewing at 3pm.

weather sun faceIt’s 62F and the sun is shining.

I was so logy yesterday morning that it took longer than it should for me to get moving. I wasn’t even really moving well for an hour or more after we got to the shop. We got open well before time and got things going. Several folks ran in and out on errands and I finally went into the back and crashed. When I woke up I was in a lot better shape, so I spent a good while picking up and cleaning up.

It wasn’t all that busy yesterday, but Gary Lund, the stained glass guy, finally came in when I was there and we’ve got a *lot* of new stained glass! There’re some turtles, dolphins, hummingbirds and lotus, even a few mermaids and a lot beyond that. We’ll be pricing and hanging things over then next few days and I’ll be trying to get pictures. I got this one, earlier, of the current stock of stone eggs.

Instant Human jersey thumbWe went over to the China Restaurant for dinner. Delicious as always, and we have leftovers for today’s lunch!

We went back to the shop to finish closing up and cleaning up so that I could actually do the workshops tomorrow and then came home. We watched the moon rising into the clouds, did a little sorting here, and went to bed.

I didn’t sleep well, so I’m horribly sleepy. I keep dozing off, even sitting at the computer. Hopefully, that will wear off, because I have all of the workshops today.

Today’s feast is the Bartholomew Fair, which may have descended from the Mania, the feast of Ceres, Mania, and the Manes, in the sense of honoring cthonic and grain deities. Reap the Harvest Spell

When we find ourselves repeatedly in situations that yield a grim emotional, spiritual, or physical harvest, we need to look inward to ascertain if the seeds that we are sowing will grow the crops that we desire. To do this, light a green or brown candle. Place malachite in front of the candle representing your heartfelt desire for change. Focusing on the candle, ask for guidance from your higher self in discovering your heart’s desires and ambitions. Script these desires in a visual present tense. State these or similar words:

The universe unfolds her abundant path for me.
Her fruitful harvest is mine,
So mote it be.

Focus the stream of your visualizations on the malachite. That is, visualize the malachite lending vibrations to your vision as it sends your energy out to the universe. Afterward, extinguish the candle. Hold onto the malachite as a reminder of your heart’s harvest. ~Karen Follet )0(  From The Morning Feast Archives

Ancient Ones Harvest Spell – Pagan Studies

Harvest was a time for families, communities, and friends to come together. During harvest, special cakes were made in a ritual manner, and each person in the family or group would partake of this sacred meal.

Mix together one cup oat flour, one pinch baking soda, two pinches of salt, and one teaspoon of melted butter. Add hot water to form the dough, roll it on a board, and cut it into shapes. Cook the bread in the oven at 375 degrees until it is nicely toasted.

Share it with your tribe or family, reciting these words:

Consecrate the produce of our land.
Bestow prosperity and peace
In the names of the gods and goddesses,
And in the names of the ancient ones.
