Waves tide Minus tide at 6:02 AM of -0.6 feet.

I woke to bright sunshine and within the last hour we’ve gone from sun to cloud to sun to cloud to POUR to cloud to sun again. Go figure… We got an 1/2 inch of rain yesterday and almost an 1/8 so far today. In the sunshine the little droplets sparkle. There was a set of them lined up on the handle of the lawnmower that were just lovely.

kitty motif tail.jpgI didn’t get back up yesterday until past 12:30 after being awake so long into the early morning. Tempus was actually up before me, although that was after nearly kicking me into next week at one point when his phone went off. I have no idea what that was all about, since I was so sleepy that I remember complaining and rolling over…. and that’s all!

kitty motif tea cupBy the time I got up the sun was coming through occasionally, but you couldn’t call it a
sunny day. My garden was *so* happy! There’s several inches of damp in the soil that was perfectly dry almost a foot down yesterday. I spent awhile tending plants and harvesting carrots.

Tempus took off in the early afternoon to do some chores for a friend, while I got caught up from the week on correspondence and reading. After awhile I got back to work on the newsletters. That was mostly fine-tuning. I know there are things I should have been doing, but that was about what I was up to, intellectually. Sometimes I forget to stop and take a break! …so then I got to working on that bid project.

072114 bunny 13As Tempus and I were coming home, the sucker hole over Bayshore still had light from the western sky coming through, and it was past 10. Tempus crashed almost immediately, but I spent awhile trying to get some work done, but ended up turning in with a book.

Today I’m going to be at the shop, hopefully sewing a lot. Tempus is taking our elderly friend to do some shopping. I want to do another pair of the bunny tabards. >>>>>

250px-Święta_KingaToday’s Feast is that of St. Kinga, or Cunegunde, who was Grand Duchess  of Poland in the 13th century. She was married, but she and her husband, the Grand Duke, Boleslav V, known as “the Chaste”, kept their chastity inside of marriage. When he died, she became a Poor Clare, eventually an abbess, having sold all her possessions and given the money to the poor. She’s a patron of Poland.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinga_of_Poland

Saint_johns_wort_hypericum perforatumToday’s plant is St. John’s Wort, Hypericum perforatum, which traditionally blooms at mid-summer on the pagan festival that the feast of St. John the Baptist replaced. It is widely used in the treatment of depression  and to ward off evil, both in a medical and magickal sense. Charms made of this herbs, harvested on the summer solstice (or on June 24 or July 7, depending on your culture)  make some of the best protection charms (especially against lightning) and good prosperity charms.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_John%27s_wort

Holly Celtic Tree Month Tinne Ilex-aquifoliumCeltic Tree Month of Tinne/Holly, Jul 8 – Aug 4, Tinne (CHIN-yuh), holly – The holly (Ilex aquifolium L.) is a shrub growing to 10 m (35 feet) in open woodlands and along clearings in forests. Hollies are evergreen, and stand out in winter among the bare branches of the deciduous forest trees that surround them. Hollies form red berries before Samhain which last until the birds finish eating them, often after Imbolc. The typical “holly leaf” is found on smaller plants, but toward the tops of taller plants the leaves have fewer spiny teeth. Hollies are members of the Holly family (Aquifoliaceae). The common holly is often cultivated in North America, as are hybrids between it and Asiatic holly species.
Graves (1966) and others are of the opinion that the original tinne was not the holly, but rather the holm oak, or holly oak (Quercus ilex L.). This is an evergreen oak of southern Europe that grows as a shrub, or as a tree to 25 m (80 feet). Like the holly, the holm oak has spiny-edged leaves on young growth. It does not have red berries, but it does have red leaf “galls” caused by the kermes scale insect; these are the source of natural scarlet dye. Holm oaks are occasionally cultivated in North America.

lughnasadh wheat borderLughnasadh Magick – Prayers/Chants

Prayer for Lughnasadh

Now is the time of the First Harvest,
when the bounties of nature give of themselves so that we may survive.
O God of the ripening fields,
Lord of the Grain,
grant me the understanding of sacrifice as You prepare to deliver Yourself under the sickle of the Goddess and journey to the lands of eternal summer.
O Goddess of the Dark Moon,
teach me the secrets of rebirth as the Sun loses its strength and the nights grow cold. – Scott Cunningham

Ashes to Ashes, dust to dust
We shall go as we can and do as we must.
The body may die but the Spirit is Free
To do greater wonders, so mote it be!

Ashes to ashes, clay to clay
We shall seek for our center and find our own way
The flesh may be blind but the Spirit can see
The Gods within all, so mote it be!

Ashes to ashes, sand to sand,
We will use all our talents to heal our great land
The flesh may be weak, but the Spirit in me
Is full with Her blessings, so mote it be!

*Perform as a chant, begin as a whisper and increase the volume as the collective level of energy grows.
