It’s 64F with a nice breeze and the humidity is down at 35%. Wow…. Nice bright sunshine… it’s going to be a really lovely day!
The feeder is covered with sparrows. They’re all too busy eating to even fight with each other!
Yesterday was tiring, but mostly because it was a little too warm for me. Tempus went down to the shop first, because I needed a shower. When I got down there my first job was to clean out my desk completely because it needed it. After that I wiped it down with damp cloths and then got out of the way because Tempus got to work installing the new computer.
I finally got around to putting together that stack of pendulums that have been waiting, so the pictures here are those. They run from $13 to $17. After that I started a necklace…. a “de-stress” with a worrystone pendant. It’s jade, jadite and unakite. No pic, though.
Tempus took off to get the laptop. It needed to be de-loused, the same as the other computer, and they took a *lot* out of it. I still have a lot of software to take to the shop tomorrow so that I can get it all installed and then I have to hand it off to Tempus.
I got going on pictures and took a lot. Look what bloomed in the box in front of the shop! >>> It’s the only one of the batch to do so. Several others came up, but no blooms and by the end of the day the flower had wilted to the ground.
It got up to 86F during the day….too much for me. I was tired all evening, and it was still 70 at 9pm and 26% humidity. I crawled into bed long before Tempus got home. He was playing with the laptop and installing programs….and then got the black screen of death…. we may have only 3 computers again/still. <sigh>
>>>>> This is an actual sign on a pizza at a place called Sizzle Pie in Portland! >>>>>>>>>>>>>
Today I need to go on sorting out the stuff from my desk at the shop. I also have some software to install. Tempus is going to take out elderly friend to run errands today.
There is a distinct possibility of the Aurora Borealis showing up tonight. We didn’t see anything last night. Make sure that you check! It’s supposed to be clear. The aurora was visible last night in Arizona!!! This photo by Chris Schur is the red glow of auroras peaking over the trees in the backyard of his home in Payson, AZ. There was a huge CME (coronal mass ejection) from the sun that’s setting this off.
Today is the feast of Meng Jiangnu (Pumpkin Girl), China. It is a tragic story of a loving couple whose lives were destroyed by war and the torture that war brings on the common people. Today’s plant is Western Red Cedar, Thuja plicata, which is not a cedar at all, but an Arborvitae. Arborvitae comes from the Latin for “tree of life” and coincidentally, native Americans of the West coast also address the species as “long life maker”. “Western Redcedar has an extensive history of use by the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast, from Oregon to southeast Alaska. Some northwest coast tribes refer to themselves as “people of the redcedar” because of their extensive dependence on the tree for basic materials. The wood has been used for constructing housing, totem poles, and crafted into many objects, including masks, utensils, boxes, boards, instruments, canoes, vessels, and ceremonial objects. Roots and bark were used for baskets, ropes, clothing, blankets and rings.” Wiki article – Masculine, Sun, Fire, – to enhance banishing of ill health and bad dreams. This evening one of Saturn‘s moons, 10th-magnitude Rhea, will occult (cover up) a much brighter star, 7.8 magnitude SAO 159034, as seen from North Carolina northward. elescope users farther south will witness a near miss. Details and illustrations are in our article, See Saturn’s Moon Rhea Hide a Star.
Venus (magnitude –3.9) and Jupiter (magnitude –1.8) shine in the east during dawn. They continue moving farther apart: Jupiter is moderately high now, and Venus is quite low (to Jupiter’s lower left) as sunrise approaches.

Runic half-month of Raidho/Rad 8/29-9/12 – Denotes the channeling of energies in the correct manner to produce the desired results. Nigel Pennick, The Pagan Book of Days, Destiny Books, Rochester, Vermont, USA, 1992, p. 102
Runic half-month of Kenaz/Ken/Kebo – September 13-27 – Ken represents a flaming torch within the royal hall, so it’s the time of the creative fire – the forge where natural materials are transmuted by the force of the human will into a mystical third, an artifact that could not otherwise come into being. The positive aspects of sexuality that are immanent in Freya and Frey come into play at this time. Nigel Pennick, The Pagan Book of Days, Destiny Books, Rochester, Vermont, USA, 1992, p. 102

Celtic Tree Month of Muin/Vine Sep 2 – 29 – Muin – (MUHN, like “foot”), vine – The grape (Vitis vinifera L.) is a vine growing as long as 35 m (115 feet), in open woodlands and along the edges of forests, but most commonly seen today in cultivation, as the source of wine, grape juice, and the grape juice concentrate that is so widely used as a sweetener. European grapes are extensively cultivated in North America, especially in the southwest, and an industry and an agricultural discipline are devoted to their care and the production of wine. Affirmation/Thought for the Day – Things that happen in life affect your energy. You can’t stop things from happening, but you can somewhat influence and determine your response to what happens. Your actions throughout life continuously affect your chi (life energy). These impressions become perpetual conditioning factors on your personal flow of chi.

Diving into the dark cold pool
Echoes of water lapping on sand
Overhead, shadows dance upon the ceiling
Light and shadow surround me
Shimmering into being
Spirit guides beckon
Cocoon in darkness
Rebirth of soul
Integration of the splinters of my soul
Frightened children of the past
Knowledge engulfs me
Strength saturates being
Honor, thanks to guides
Revered ancestors bid farewell

JOIN US AT THE FEAST, GREAT MOTHER
Oh, join us at the feast, Great Mother!
Come into our banquet hall,
Partake of the hot spice rum and cakes
While your hounds bask by the fire.
You shall have the main chair, the one
At the head of the table, to be your throne.
We will play cheerful music on the dulcimer,
And sing sweet songs of thanksgiving.
We will listen to anything you say,
And will share anything you wish us to.
There is great joy at being in your company,
We will gather around your feet to listen.
Oh, join us at the feast, Great Mother!
We have decorated the banquet hall for you,
Put velvets for your hounds to sleep upon,
And have candles in the sconces on the wall.
We will dance to your glorious moon,
Dance for you and sing to celebrate;
Joining together in the community of Souls
That bask in your all-encompassing love. © Copyright 09/21/05 Beth Johnson (Mystic Amazon)

Gaia, Mother of the Earth,
We call upon you with respect.

To the everyday stresses
And resentments that assail us.
Help us connect with your Light
And the love and grace you bring.
Blessed Mothers, we thank you
