Minus Tide at 5:34 PM of -0.5 feet.
I was up early this morning and could see the beginnings of dawn in small holes in the clouds along the horizon. It’s 43F and raining. I *think* what woke me was a thunderstorm, but I’m not sure. Looks like we have some more rolling in, too.
Yesterday went very quickly since we had a lot of tasks. We got a bit farther on the crystals inventory, worked on the bone experiment and some pouches, the bucket, my aumoniere and some caps. Iow, some sewing and some other things….

We spent the evening at our friend’s who is having surgery on Wednesday. I kept dozing off since I took a different allergy pill than my usual and it knocked me for a loop! We got home 11:30-ish and I spent a few minutes with pictures and then went to bed.

Today we are supposed to be working on the inventory, but I don’t know how much Tempus needs to do at our friend’s. I know there’s more. We’ll see!

Luffa (or loofah, luffa aegyptica or luffa acutangula) is an odd sort of plant, rather like a cucumber in that it’s a long, green vegetable with the flesh on the outside and a core full of seeds. They’re even edible, if a little bitter, when young. The biggest difference is that they grow a fibrous frame that has been used for a long time as a “vegetable sponge”, wherever they grow, and are particularly good for scrubbing scratchable dishes, counters and glassware. They’re used a lot in Chinese medicine, and the juice is a remedy for jaundice. – Feminine, Moon, Water – Their magicks include helping with rheumatism and arthritis, detoxing, especially the liver, and with acne and scarring. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luffa
Well, this one floored me. I had never heard about a Roman god whose name was Vejovis! No one knows a lot about him, but there was a temple to him in Rome. He may have come from an older Etruscan god, but was said to have been the first god born and was sacrificed to to avoid plagues. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vejovis

Celtic Tree Month of Nuin/Nion/Ash, Feb 18 – Mar 17, Nion (NEE-uhn), ash – the common ash (Fraxinus excelsior L.) is a major tree of lowland forests in much of Europe, along with oaks and beeches. It grows to 40 m (130 feet) in open sites, with a broad crown reminiscent of American elm trees. Ash was and still is an important timber tree, and is a traditional material for the handle of a besom. The common ash is occasionally cultivated in North America, and similar native ash species are widely grown as street trees. Ashes are members of the Olive family (Oleaceae).

~ Great minds have purpose. Others have wishes. – Washington Irving
For me it meant 8,000 days of hunger, of systematic beatings, of hard labor, of solitary confinement and solitude, 8,000 days of struggling to prove that I was a human being, 8,000 days of proving that my spirit could triumph over exhaustion and pain, 8,000 days of testing my religious convictions, my faith, of fighting the hate my atheist jailers were trying to instill in me with each bayonet thrust, fighting so that hate would not flourish in my heart, 8,000 days of struggling so that I would not become like them. – Testimony of Armanda Valladares on life in a Cuban prison
Ostara Magick – Songs
We are going to sow.
Mother, come and help us,
help us with our task.
Aren’t you our mother?
Aren’t we your girls?
There is only forest here
where we need to plant.
Only with your help
will we clear our way.
Who else can we call upon
as we plant our fruit? ~Women’s planting song of the Jibaro People of South America
When nights and days are balanced and halved,
The ancient Oaks sprout life anew.
Limbs of buds and leaves reach out
Collecting the breath of the mornings’ dew
Summer will come and the Winter winds,
Turning and turning the leaves on their stems.
Then they must fall, but now in the spring
the twig is bound, and the Bud remains.
Hang the leaf from sturdy limb
Of Oak or Maple, or Ash, or Elm,
Praise the Oak God, the tree is him!
Thus will the trees live long and well.
Dishes me. Who ish you?
