Man, what a long day yesterday was! We were crazy busy all day, starting from a kerfluffle with what was going to the shop, that ended with a couple of boxes and one of the ottomans heading down and two boxes going back into the house. We did a little picking up and then I started sorting out the stuff that I have by my fan back chair up front. Things have been accumulating…
>>>>>>> Partway done >>>>>>>>>>
Before I was done, two friends from Corvallis stopped by and we spent the next hour talking hard…. When they left I was finished with my sorting and the front looked a lot better. I asked Tempus what he wanted to do next and he had some repairs to make so I spent several hours doing headers for things, adding crystals to what we just inventoried and doing up more that are just getting set by.
<<<<< Offloaded the drawer rack <<<<<
Eventually he had a back on my drawer rack and we did some work on the herbs inventory,
since I have a whole basket of new ones, already. Arnemetia stopped by. We found out why we haven’t been seeing her. She had gall bladder surgery back in February and was far more ill than I was! She’s getting better enough, finally, that she stopped by to say hi.
^^ New back on the rack and glue drying. Yeah, we might have a couple of large rocks! ^^
We did get places on the Herb Wall inventory during that last part of the day. I already have more than 100 packets of herbs to put up, so we gotta finish! We left at around 7:30 and it was still light enough for me to harvest some sorrel and salad greens for supper.
Today is all packing. I have the living room shelves to do and Tempus has to start running those down to the shop along with taking things to storage. I want him to sweep in the living room first, though, since there was a lot of dust/dirt under the sofa. He found my lapis worrystone, though! It’s been missing for awhile and it turns out to have been under the sofa!
Today’s plant is the Bells of Ireland, Moluccella laevis (Molucca balmis, Shellflower, Shell flower) is a summer flowering annual, native to Turkey, Syria and the Caucasus. It is cultivated for its spikes of flowers which look like green bells. In the language of flowers, it represents luck. It’s a member of the mint family as you can tell by the leaves! Today is the Ides of March, mostly known today for the death of Julius Caesar, but they were a religious celebration during the Roman Empire. They were sacred to Jupiter and Anna Perenna. “The ides of March have come,” meaning to say that the prophecy had not been fulfilled, to which the seer replied “Aye, Caesar; but not gone.” More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Julius_Caesar and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ides_of_March#Religious_observances and on Anna Perenna here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Perenna
The shop is closed on Tuesday/Wednesday. Spring hours are 11am-6pm Thursday through Monday, although the time that we’re there is drifting later with the longer days. Need something off hours? Give us a call at 541-563-7154 or Facebook or email at email@example.com If we’re supposed to be closed, but it looks like we’re there, try the door. If it’s open, the shop’s open! In case of bad weather, check here at the blog for updates, on our Facebook as Ancient Light, or call the shop.

Celtic Tree Month of Nuin/Nion/Ash, Feb 18 – Mar 17, Nion (NEE-uhn), ash – the common ash (Fraxinus excelsior L.) is a major tree of lowland forests in much of Europe, along with oaks and beeches. It grows to 40 m (130 feet) in open sites, with a broad crown reminiscent of American elm trees. Friendship Is…(Sent to me by Annette: <<Smiles and Faith@aol.com>>
You’re a true friend, that I want you to know,
Our love for each other has helped us to grow.
We’ve been through some tough times,
but we’ve made it through,
The only one I ever trusted was you.
You helped me through anger, You’ve chased away fears.
You held me through sadness, and kissed away tears.
You stayed by my side when the world turned away.
You helped me see joy when the skies were all gray.
You were the rainbow at the end of the storm.
You help me be different when I shouldn’t conform.
You held my hand when you knew we would fall.
Every heartache, you saw me through it all.
I’m not sure I’m always the best friend to you,
I know I’m not perfect, but this much is true.
When life gets you down, And there’s nowhere to turn,
I’ll help you through and I’ll share your concern.
I’ll try my best to return every favor,
When you’re sure that you’ll drown,
then I’ll be your lifesaver;
Even if we both go down.
Whether we sink or swim doesn’t matter at all,
Just know that I’ll be there whenever you call.
I’ll pull you out when life pulls you under.
I’ll be the sun when there’s lightning and thunder.
And when it’s all over, And we’ve fought every war,
There’s one thing I promise, Of this I am sure,
When the time comes that we’re put to our rest.
Be sure that you know that, My friend, you’re the best.
Ostara Magick –
Ostara Creation Spell
This joyous holiday honors the spring goddess, Ostara, whose name means “movement toward the rising Sun.” Just as Imbolc signals the return of light, Ostara signals the awakening of the Earth. Trees are blooming, bulbs are pushing up out of the ground, birds are nesting, and animals are mating. The creative energy is at its strongest during this season. If you haven’t decided what you wish to manifest this year, do so now.
To empower your goal, write it on a hard-boiled egg with a wax crayon. The egg is a powerful symbol representing the universe in embryo. Your goal lives within you in the same way that creation lives within its egg, and like the egg, your goal has everything it needs to manifest. Now, draw two interlocking triangles to form a six-pointed star on your egg. This star symbolizes one of the most important keys in magic: as above, so below. What you can create in your imagination, you can manifest on the physical plane. Dye your egg a deep red to symbolize the goddess and life itself. Using your egg as a focus, work in the days ahead with the interplay of imagination and physical striving to achieve your desire. By: Lily Gardner
Bulb Planting Earth Chant – http://crystalforest3.homestead.com/beltane.html
by Eileen – For all those spring planted bulbs like lilies, oxalis, glads, begonias and such:
breath of the stone is strange to me
i know it lives as i can’t see
force of the earth is strong and free
sustenance and beauty be
born of the stars and sprang from the ground
Mother, Goddess all around
Wheel must turn as the seasons show
what lies dead shall surely grow
Eileen down to tie my shoe.
