I’m pretty happy about the amount of stuff that got done yesterday. The file cabinet is mended (Tempus fixed the bottom drawer runners, which was the hold-up) and put where it’s supposed to live. I got some more headers done (finished the lemon verbena and the aquamarines and got some buttermilk jasper up there) and got a bunch of pictures developed.
I finally sat down with my embroidery and got another of the flowerpot pincushions finished. Amy and Marius and Tempus were sanding wooden animals for quite awhile and then I pulled out the swatches and we all had fun destroying the sticky labels on the back to get them usable. Marius also pulled apart the stapled book of them. Those are going to turn into pouches and pincushions and other pretty things.
We all went across the street for supper since the folks there are open 7 days a week, now. I do miss Raymond’s cooking, though. The sauce for the sweet/sour pork was just too sweet. When Tempus and I got home it was well past 9pm and he just went down and stayed asleep until getting up time this morning! He must have been tired.
I got out and watered plants this morning. I think I’m going to have to shift some of them around. The strawberry pots must not have been planted properly since water runs out of every pocket. I’m going to have to pull them apart and re-do them, but I really only have time to repot the plants quickly, and then set them aside for doing up properly, later in the summer. The thyme in the box garden is growing like crazy, but the chives are overwhelming it…and all the lettuces and radishes bolted. <sigh>
Today Tempus is going to be moving furniture and I’ll be at the shop. I’m going to try to do some more herbs and clean the work table off again. Didn’t I just do that? <sigh> No Magick again. Still no computer!
Today’s Plant is the Blueberry, Vaccinium Cyanococcus (many species/varieties)! This is a fruiting bush that is related to cranberries, huckleberries and bilberries, has many species within the genus and many varieties within the species. Many fruits are called blueberries, when they’re notVaccinium. Widely cultivated across the world, the fruit is high in iron and lot of micronutrients and even has resveratrol like red grapes. It may have effects on brain health, reducing stroke damage in experimental animals and memory retention in the aged. More here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blueberry – Put blueberries under the doormat to keep people you don’t want out of the house or plant them along the property line or next to the front walk to keep them entirely off your property. Blossoms can be dried and carried in an amulet, or wear fresh ones in your hair for protection from negative psychic energy near you. Eat blueberries and/or make blueberry pie or tea or jam to get the protection from psychic attack inside you, especially if the effects are leading to headaches and fatigue.
Today’s festival is the Lemuria, the feast of the unquiet dead. The head of the household would walk around barefoot at midnight, throwing black beans over his shoulders as an offering to exorcise those who weren’t supposed to be hanging around. Celtic Tree Month of Saille/Willow, Apr 15 – May 12 – The Willow in the Tree alphabet stands for the female and lunar rhythms of life. She is water-seeking, thriving from preference on the damp margins of lakes and streams or across the low-lying water meadows. Water and the tidal movements of the sea are governed by the pull of the moon. The moon in its monthly rhythms is female, contrasting with the male sun’s daily and yearly turnings. In several ways, the Celts held women in higher regard than we do today. On the material level, women were property owners, and whoever controlled the property controlled the marriage. Women of all types and ages appeared in the Celtic pantheon, the spiritual strength and life-giving qualities given by both female and male recognized equally. There were colleges of Druidesses – learned women and teachers – respected equally for their gifts of see-ship, often expressed through dreams, or night visions.
Magical Associations: Romantic love, healing, protection, fertility, magic for women.

Affirmation/Thought for the Day –Listen to the morning sounds: bird’s songs; wind in the tree; the roar of traffic; children’s voices. What do these sounds convey to you?
~ The only true wisdom is knowing that you know nothing. – Socrates
~ Many of our fears are tissue-paper thin, and a single courageous step would carry us clear through them. – Brendan Francis
~ As we go through the day we find ourselves focusing on past experiences or future possibilities. We are so involved in yesterday and tomorrow that we never even notice that today is slipping by. – Jim Rohn
~ Open yourself to meditation then trust your natural responses; and everything will take its place. – Dharma
For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much — the wheel, New York, wars and so on — whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man — for precisely the same reasons. – Douglas Adams in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Silliness –The Navy Cure for Snoring
By the time the sailor pulled into a little town, every hotel room was taken. “You’ve got to have a room somewhere,” he pleaded. “Or just a bed, I don’t care where.”
“Well, I do have a double room with one occupant – an Air Force guy,” admitted the manager, “and he might be glad to split the cost. But to tell you the truth, he snores so loudly that people in adjoining rooms have complained in the past. I’m not sure it’d be worth it to you.”
“No problem,” the tired Navy man assured him. “I’ll take it.”
The next morning, the sailor came down to breakfast bright-eyed and bushy tailed. “How’d you sleep?” asked the manager.
The manager was impressed. “No problem with the other guy snoring?”
“Nope. I shut him up in no time,” said the Navy guy.
“How’d you manage that?” asked the manager.
“He was already in bed, snoring away, when I came in the room,” the sailor explained. “I went over, gave him a kiss on the cheek, and said, ‘Good night, beautiful,’ and he sat up all night watching me.”
