Daily Stuff 5-30-16 Frigg’s Day

Hi, folks!

motif sunny bright weather55F, a decent breeze, clear…. isn’t that the same forecast that we’ve had for weeks? 🙂

052616 flower2Yesterday was arduous. We were up early and got to the house in good time for Tempus to load a bunch of stuff to take to storage. After than he opened the shop and I got to work on some more packing and digging plants. I got the sage dug first, but the two plants were intertwined enough to need to be put into one pot. Stella stopped by to help and we got the large fennel dug and partly potted for Tempus to get the 052616 flower4potting soil in once it was at Jeanne’s. She dug a lavendar for herself and took off and Tempus came back for me.

He went and got doughnuts at that point. 🙂 Regular Sunday thing…. Harmony was in with her new baby and we talked for quite awhile, then Tempus headed for the house to grab the plants and do more packing during the afternoon.

052916 pincushionAmy was the only one who showed for the House Capuchin project day, and that for a short while, but while she was there I finished another pincushion.

The shop was pretty busy during the day. There were a lot of people browsing and a few bought. I spent time developing pictures and between when there were folks in, sewing in the back and doing some sorting 052616 flower5out back there.

Tempus came back to the shop with my computer desk in kit form and we worked out how to re-work it to fit the shop space and he did some repairs. We didn’t leave the shop until well after 10pm.

Today might be worse, might be better. I’m going to be following a similar pattern today, after getting some pictures this morning. We’re hoping to get the computer desk re-set done this afternoon, too. There’s a lot of other stuff to come out of the house today, as well.

A picture Ken Gagne snapped on 5/17/16 of Photographers at Thor’s Well. This is why we warn people about the power of the ocean. These guys are in incredible danger, but….

Today’s feast is Frigg’s day, according to Nigel Pennick. Frigg is a goddess associated with married women. She was called up by women to assist in giving birth to children. She is also wise enough to sit in Odin’s (her husband’s) seat to keep an eye on the world. Orion’s Belt was called Frigg’s distaff by the Norse. The picture is of her spinning clouds! There’s an article with a lot of the stories here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frigg and another with a lot of the similarities between Frigg and Freya here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frigg_and_Freyja_origin_hypothesis

plant flower foxglove Digitalismotif plant flower foxgloveToday’s plant is FoxgloveDigitalis purpurea. It is naturalized in the PNW, being native to Europe, not the Americas. Digitalis was one of the first heart medications and was extracted from the plant and then synthesized. The plant is poisonous, not just because of this (too much causes irregular heartbeat), but some other chemicals. Also known as Lady’s Glove, Witches’ Gloves, Fairy Fingers, or Dead Men’s Bells. – Feminine, Venus, Water – A Druid sacred herb associated with the “little people”. Lust, protection, decision, grow in a garden for protection of house and yard, reveals insincerity. Flower meaning – a wish, “I am not ambitious for myself but for you”.

* 8 Africans,
* 52 would be female
* 48 would be male
* 70 would be non-white

* 30 would be Christian
* 95 would be heterosexual
* 5 would be homosexual
* 6 people would own 59% of the world’s wealth, and all 6 would be from the United States
* 80 would live in substandard housing
* 70 would be unable to read
* 50 would suffer from malnutrition
* 1 would be near death
* 1 would be near birth
* 1 would have a college education

Pentacle of ElementsMagick – Litha/Midsummer

Midsummer by JT – http://www.fortunecity.com/greenfield/tigris/567/id20.htm

Midsummer —
Longest day
Shortest night
Longest light
Shortest dark
The world within
Echoes the world without
Lush foliage, leaves unfurled
Soft springy grass dotted with
Brightly colored flowers peeping through
The earth is green and bright
With warm sunny days
Clear velvety blue skies
Gentle cool breezes
Nature in glory

Our hopes blossom
Creativity flowers
With the season
The seeds of the fruit
Our desires will bear
Can be seen
On the stems
Of our dreams
