Ok, how did I mess this one up? From 5/14/16 Ken Gagne evening at the beach
Today’s feast is the Ludi Piscatorii, the day of the fishermen, in honor of Father Tiber, the Tiber River in Italy. (although Wikipedia has it as 6/7…) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludi_Piscatorii It is also the day of St. Botolph, according to Nigel Pennick, who is an English saint, patron of travelers and fishermen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Botolph Fishing has been a main source of food since the neolithic and the first permanent settlements, such as those at Lepensky Vir (7000BCE or so) were based on fishing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lepenski_Vir
Today’s Plant is the Primrose, Primula vulgaris. This plant, because it iseasily grown, but easily killed, is very popular at garden centers. Even our local grocery and Fred Meyer’s have racks of them outside in February and March. They’re often given as inexpensive gifts for Valentine’s, Easter, and Mothers’ Day. Both flowers and leaves are edible, the flavor ranging between mild lettuce and more bitter salad greens. The leaves can also be used for tea, and theyoung flowers can be made into primrose wine. – Feminine, Venus, Earth, Freya – grow blue and red ones to protect against reverses of fortune, yellow and pink to attract the small Fae. When worn, they attract the love of men, and can cure madness. If you dry them and sew them into a child’s pillow you will gain his undying respect and loyalty, but be sure that you deserve it, first! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primula_vulgaris

Love & Light,
Today’s Astro & Calendar
Waxing Moon Magick – The waxing moon is for constructive magick, such as love, wealth, success, courage, friendship, luck or healthy, protection, divination. Any working that needs extra power, such as help finding a new job or healings for serious conditions, can be done now. Also, love, knowledge, legal undertakings, money and dreams. Phase ends at the Tide Change on 6/20 at 4:02am. Waxing Gibbous Moon – From seven to fourteen days after the new moon. For spells that need concentrated work over a ¼ moon cycle this is the best time for constructive workings. Aim to do the last working on the day of the Full moon, before the turn. Keywords for the Gibbous phase are: analyze, prepare, trust. It is the time in a cycle to process the results of the actions taken during the First Quarter. During this phase you are gathering information. Give up making judgments; it will only lead to worry. Your knowledge is incomplete. Laugh. Analyze and filter. LOOK WITHIN. God/dess aspect: Maiden/Youth, but in the uncommitted phase, the Warriors – Associated God/desses: Dion, Dionysius, Venus, Thor. Phase ends a the Full on 6/18 at 4:02pm.
The Moon, Mars, and Saturn make a wide, flattish triangle tonight, as shown here. The longest side connects the two planets, 18° apart.
A 3-inch telescope will show Saturn‘s biggest and brightest moon: Titan, magnitude 8.5. Tonight it’s west of Saturn, by about four times the length of Saturn’s rings. Can you see Titan’s orange tint through the moonlight?
Uranus (magnitude 5.9, in Pisces) is low in the east just before dawn begins.

Celtic Tree Month of Duir/Oak, Jun 10 – Jul 7 – The oak of myth and legend is the common oak (Quercus robur L.). It is sometimes called the great oak, which is a translation of its Latin name (robur is the root of the English word “robust”). It grows with ash and beech in the lowland forests, and can reach a height of 150 feet and age of 800 years. Along with ashes, oaks were heavily logged throughout recent millennia, so that the remaining giant oaks in many parts of Europe are but a remnant of forests past. Like most other central and northern European trees, common oaks are deciduous, losing their leaves before Samhain and growing new leaves in the spring so that the trees are fully clothed by Bealltaine. Common oaks are occasionally cultivated in North America, as are the similar native white oak, valley oak, and Oregon oak. Oaks are members of the Beech family (Fagaceae). Curtis Clark

~ The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of thefool gushes folly. – Proverbs 15:2, New International Version**
I have written my life in small sketches, a little today, a little yesterday, as I thought of it, as I remembered all the things from childhood on through the years, good ones and unpleasant ones. That’s how they come, and that is how we have to take them. I look back on my life like a good day’s work, it was done and I feel satisfied with it. I was happy and contented, I knew nothing better and made the best out of what life offered and life is what we make it, always has been, always will be. – Grandma Moses, American folk artist, born on September 7, 1860
This sets up a resonance through the repetitions that creates the magick. You can encourage people to repeat the “May they have a good life”…..It falls in 3 sections which should be separated by the indicated pause…just a breath or so….
May we be safe and protected.
May we be peaceful and happy.
May we be healthy and strong.
May we be content with life.
There are those who put themselves in harm’s way for the rest of us. Let us bring Metta to them.
For all those who fight fires in our communities: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For all those who fight fires in our forests and tend our wild lands: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For all those who mind the weather and issue weather alerts: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong and may they have a good life.
For all those who design and mind the traffic patterns of foot, vehicle or air: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong and may they have a good life.
For all those who tend to our physical and mental health: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For all those who stand between those who would overcome the rest of us by physical force, coercion or violence, our soldiers, our police and all the whistleblowers: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For all those who tend the health of our Mother Gaia: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For our Mother Gaia without whom we would not exist: May she be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may she have a good life.
For all those who tend the safety of our Solar System: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For all those who tend the safety of our Universe: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For those Watchers in the Outer Dark who tend the safety of all in this life and the next: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
We honor them for their sacrifice that we may have Metta.
