Yesterday went far too fast. We actually had people in the shop with the lights off and the doors closed! Not that weren’t glad of the business, but we were still putting together a shopping list (It was Senior Tuesday at Freddie’s) not long before 7pm. I still hadn’t worked on newsletters or the reports I needed to do.
Tempus ran up to the apartment to get a stack of stuff that I needed to work on and then headed for Newport to get the shopping done and then get started on his papers. He called once he was shopping, every few minutes, to try to sort out what all we needed. 🙂
Tempus and I won a trip to Sisters, Oregon and we’re going to take it in October as our anniversary trip. We’re planning on being closed from Sunday, October 16 through Wednesday, October 19. It’s an “Ultimate Romance Package”. 🙂 That’s going to be fun. We haven’t tried doing something like that in a long while!
Man, was it *foggy* last night! The shopping trip slowed Tempus down so that he only got rolling around 11:30 and picked me up at 2am. We were done around 4, but had to turn around and go back for stops where the fog had changed the landmarks and we didn’t know we were past them until a block or two…. Despite it, there were crabbers out in Alsea Bay as we went up the seawall, dim lights in the fog. Weirdly enough as we headed home across the bridge the fog disappeared at the east end of the bridge!
We really slept in this morning, wow….. It was 2pm by the time we were both awake and we got ourselves put together and came down here. An arborist is working on the trees in the neighbors yard and even the chainsaws didn’t wake us.
Tempus is heading for the house today. I’m hoping he’ll be back around dark, if not before, with another load of stuff.
Today’s Feast is in honor of Grace Darling‘s daring deed. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_Darling
‘Twas on the Longstone Lighthouse, there dwelt and English maid;
Pure as the air around her, of danger ne’er afraid;
One morning just at daybreak, a storm-tossed wreck she spied;
And tho’ to try seemed madness, “I’ll save the crew!’ she cried.
And she pull’d away, o’er the rolling sea,
Over the waters blue –
‘Help! Help!’ she could hear the cry of the shipwreck’d crew –
But Grace had an English heart,
And the raging storm she brav’d –
She pull’d away, mid the dashing spray,
And the crew she saved! – Song about Grace Darling, British heroine of the September 7, 1838 disaster
Today’s Plant is Cittim Bark (Cascara), Rhamnus purshiana. It is a potent laxative and has been used for that for centuries. –Masculine, Saturn, Earth – Sprinkle an infusion of this around the home before legal proceedings, to help you win your case. It is used in money spells and worn in a brown cloth amulet will protect again evil influences and hexes. It can be sewn into a poppet to attract those influences away from you, but place this outside at night, especially.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cascara_Sagrada

What is laughter? What is laughter?
It is God(dess) waking up! O it is God(dess) waking up!
It is the sun poking its sweet head out
From behind a cloud
You have been carrying too long,
Veiling your eyes and heart.
It is Light breaking ground for a great Structure
That is your Real body – called Truth.
It is happiness applauding itself and then taking flight
To embrace everyone and everything in this world.
Laughter is the polestar
Held in the sky by our Beloved,
Who eternally says,
“Yes, dear ones, come this way,
Come this way towards Me and Love!
Come with your tender mouths moving
And your beautiful tongues conducting songs
And with your movements – your magic movements
Of hands and feet and glands and cells – Dancing!
Know that to God(dess)’s Eye,
All movement is a Wondrous Language,
And Music – such exquisite, wild Music!”
O what is laughter, Hafiz?
What is this precious love and laughter
Budding in our hearts?
It is the glorious sound
Of a soul waking up! – Hafiz (Renderings of Hafiz by Daniel Ladinsky)
Prayer for Mabon – Author Unknown
As autumn returns to earth’s northern hemisphere,
and day and night are briefly,
balanced at the equinox,
may we remember anew how fragile life is —-
human life, surely,
but also the lives of all other creatures,
trees and plants,
waters and winds.
May we make wise choices in how and what we harvest,
may earth’s weather turn kinder,
may there be enough food for all creatures,
may the diminishing light in our daytime skies
be met by an increasing compassion and tolerance
in our hearts.
GODDESSES OF PEACE INVOCATION
Goddesses of Peace…
Pax, Mary, Quan Yin, Tara
Gaia, Mother of the Earth,
We call upon you with respect.
Mothers of Compassion,
Mothers of Peace and Mercy,
We ask for your wise counsel.
Please help us not to give in
To the everyday stresses
And resentments that assail us.
Help us connect with your Light
And the love and grace you bring.
Blessed Mothers, we thank you
For the nurturing and blessings
That you pour out upon us every day;
Grant that our lives also be a blessing. – © September 17, 2008, Beth Clare Johnson (Mystic Amazon)
Silliness – The Elephant and the Turtle
An elephant was drinking out of a river one day, when he spotted a turtle asleep on a log. So, he ambled on over and kicked it clear across the river.
“What did you do that for?” Asked a passing giraffe.
“Because I recognized it as the same turtle that took a nip out of my trunk 53 years ago.”
“Wow, what a memory” commented the giraffe.
“Yes,” said the elephant, “turtle recall”.
