Daily Stuff 10-7-16 Joe Hill

Hi, folks!

OCPPG Event Logo 2016 smOCPPG Tomorrow! Sign up for the supper!

weather chunky rainIt’s a drippy, windy morning. The light coming through the sunroom roof was more golden than silver and that’s persisting. 56F, but it feels chillier and wind gusts are well into the teens. We’ve gotten 4/10’s of an inch of rain after 1/3 of an inch yesterday, but it’s supposed to slack off through the weekend.

100316-christler4Yesterday flew past again. Tempus and I both had a lot to do, me mostly writing and answering questions online and he went to the storage to work.

100416-flower3Late in the afternoon Jalida and Alexander showed up with cheesecloth for me and we sat and talked for quite a while. Amy came in for Sewing in the evening.

100416-flower6Tempus took me home after that and we had supper and then he headed out on his paper route. He got in a lot earlier, coming in just after 5am and he has hopes that he can trim that a bit more.

100416-flower8I spent the evening working on clipart, reading and embroidering. I’m almost through with samples for my biscornu kits. I’ve been embroidering a bit this morning, sitting in the sunroom, too.

Today we have to finish cleaning up before OCPPG. I’m hoping to get some potatoes cooking for supper, too. I have herbs to sort out for my class in the morning and some plants and things to collect. I hope I’m going to get a chance to harvest a bit in the morning before the workshop!

Autumn Beauty! I found this pic with no attributions on Facebook. Too beautiful not to share….

yarrow 06-07-10Today’s Plant is Yarrow, Achillea millefolium. This plant is often called woundwort or nosebleed because of its clotting properties and is used for fevers and infections because it has salicylates (aspirin) in it. The young leaves can be eaten and it becomes an aid to vision-work. It’s easy to grow and makes a great companion plant. We have mostly the pacificaand californica varieties out here. – Feminine, Venus, Water. Ivy produces greenish flowers before Samhain on short, vertical shrubby branches. The leaves of these flowering branches lack the characteristic lobes of the leaves of the rest of the plant. Like holly, ivy is evergreen, its dark green leaves striking in the bare forests of midwinter. Ivy is widely cultivated in North America. It is a member of the Ginseng family (Araliaceae).

Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with. – Douglas Adams in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Honoring the Dead

From the dawn of your birth
To the sunset of your death
I honor you.

From the missions you completed
To your duties left undone
I honor you.

From the seasons of your being
Through the cycle of your life
I honor you.

From your time beyond the veil
Lie your entrance back again
May the angels support you
May my healing love reach you
From this moment until the end of time
So Mote It Be. – Silver RavenWolf – Pagan

Invocation of the Old One by Noel-Anne Brennan

Ancient Mother
Lady of the Red Desert,
Lady of the Great North,
Mistress of Moonlight,
And ice,
Mistress of Earth
And the changing sky,
Come to us now.
Come to us,
Old one,
You whose name
Is in all things,
Come to us now
And bless us
And feel our love.
