I mostly did paperwork in earlier past of the day and worked on computer updates and a shopping list later, while Tempus was trying to get the mess out of the way again.
Tempus dropped me at home and took off to do the shopping and the paper run. I had a quiet evening at home with my piano, sewing and reading. I sorted a stack of books that were in the way, but otherwise took it easy, but then didn’t sleep well.
He had a good run last night, meeting a little rain, but only a little, and getting in a little early for when he got started. It took him longer than usual to bag because the papers were thick yesterday.
I’ve been out picking huckleberries this morning, but only for a couple of minutes. Everything is dry and needs water despite all this cloud.
Chesapeake Bay memories – Crabbing as a kid…. just a dip net, wearing a swimsuit, an oversized t-shirt and a hat, old, raggy, tenny-runners and towing either a bushel basket with a lid or our rowboat… wading through the Bay grass in shallow water and scooping up the crabs. I used to love the fried-in-butter softcrab sandwiches that were my reward from my grandmother for catching enough for supper. I’m drooling thinking about one….
“Who remembers the fun of crabbing with just a dipnet and a bushel basket, wading through Bay grass beds? Well, this summer, thanks to an explosion of Bay grasses, folks are getting to experience the fun of dipnet crabbing for the first time in ages! Today on Beautiful Swimmers, its all about masses of Bay grasses and the crabs that follow their comeback: http://bit.ly/1McTxLY ” – From Facebook on the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum page this day in 2015.

Today’s Feast is the Puck Fair in Killorglin, Ireland. A goat gets crowned King Puck and set in a cage up high for the duration of the fair. The story I like about the origin of the fair was that a goat, running away from Cromwell’s army alerted the village that something was wrong. The fair dates to the 1600’s at least, even if it’s claimed to be ancient. The Puck Fair is in Wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puck_Fair
Today’s Plant is Bleeding Heart, lamprocapnos spectabilis (which Cunningham has as dicentra spectabilis, an older designation). Other names are: old-fashioned bleeding-heart, Venus’s car, Lady in a bath, Dutchman’s trousers, or Lyre-flower, which all have various folklore attached. They’re native to Asia, but are common garden ornamentals and so suited to our climate that I assumed that they were native here! When we’ve had a summer rain, they often re-bloom in late August or early September, sometimes lasting through into November. – Feminine, Venus, Water – Used in magick mostly as a divination. Crush the flower. If it “bleeds red” there is love. If it “bleeds white”, either love has died, or there is no hope of it. Be careful if you bring the live plant indoors because it can produce irritation and anger between people in the household. To forestall this push a silver bead or a dime (standing in for silver) into the soil, and say, “Lady of the Moon, give us peace, in your honor, and we honor you!”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamprocapnos_spectabilis

The Perseid meteor shower should be at its maximum late tonight and late tomorrow night. The nearly last-quarter Moon will light the sky late at night. But the brightest meteors will still shine through the moonlight, and there’s a prediction out that this year’s underlying shower may be somewhat richer than usual. You may see one every couple minutes on average, depending on the brightness of your sky. And no, this will not be the greatest Perseid shower in history. When your well-meaning relatives forward this thing to you, please suggest they learn how not to make fools of themselves believing every dumb thing people send them. Yes, there are ways to learn how.

Affirmation/Thought for the Day – I miss the laughter. I miss your smile. I miss sharing our fears, our dreams and our greatest moments of sorrow .For what was real then is no longer real. The truth does not matter. You have made a choice based not on facts, but it is okay for today. I have learned to let it go and to move on. I walked with you and talked with you. I spent time with you. You called me friend and I called you family. Miles and years are now between us and I am not the person you wanted me to be, but I am the best I can be. I no longer speak to you and you no longer speak to me. The events that have made us different are the things I desire to forget the most, but each passing moment seems like a life time.

Magick – Nature of Eclipse Magic and Spells during the Eclipse! By The Witch – June 1, 2012
Eclipse Magic is considered one of the most powerful forms of Witchcraft. Not for the faint-hearted. Are you Wise and Strong enough?
Understanding the meaning of a solar eclipse
I am sure you all have witnessed in your life the amazing physical phenomenon of an eclipse (total or not) where Sun and Moon align together with Earth. A Solar Eclipse occurs in nature as a phenomenon when the Moon enters between the Sun and the Earth therefore blocking (or better thinking as filtrating) the light of the Sun. In astrology a Solar Eclipse is a very powerful New Moon, while every month has a new Moon, a solar eclipse occurs approximately every six months.
A Solar Eclipse can be seen as a very powerful New Moon where important beginnings or endings occur, it is the perfect time to work magic in your life especially related with previous thoughts and ideas that were holding you back. You will imagine how a solar eclipse works by imagining the following narrative.
Imagine yourself as a caterpillar that has willingly entered in its cocoon of contemplation.
You remember your old self, the thoughts you made and the actions that these thoughts have led you to take. You have all the ideas about yourself who you want to be and what you want to do with your future. All these ideas and thoughts-the past, present and future- coexist during this stage.
The solar eclipse magic will give you the power when you are ready to break this cocoon and will give you the boost to completely transform into a new form, the butterfly. Hence, the Solar Eclipse magic is the perfect timing for a Metamorphosis, transcendence to a new state of being. Cutting down all the restraints that were bounding you to the ground and give you the breeze to flip your wings and fly and explore the world with a new set of wise eyes. A Solar eclipse is often described in alchemic and occult texts as the Alchemical Wedding where the Sun marries the Moon, a perfect balance.
Understanding the meaning of a lunar eclipse
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon and a lunar eclipse can only occur on a Full Moon, a very special Full Moon. You can understand the power of a lunar eclipse with this parallel, if a Solar eclipse challenges your logic and your authority in your life a lunar eclipse will challenge your emotional readiness for a change.
During a lunar eclipse a witch will face his/her insecurity, you must not only be able to imagine that a change can occur and what will this change bring but you must also have the willpower to proclaim: “I am ready and perfectly prepared for this change and I will make it happen”. A lunar eclipse is the perfect timing to face the past and find out the roots of your fears/insecurities, how they are linked to you, your emotions and your current state of being. To that personal journey you are advised to seek the guidance of your allies: angels, fairies, ghosts of loved ones, your higher self, the God(s) that will help you in your quest for truth and the time of the eclipse is perfect for that as it will allow you to contact ‘other worlds” and “other states of being”.
Spellcasting during an eclipse
As a piece of advice never try spellcasting during an eclipse, unless you are very well prepared for this. Not only natural powers run loose and you will find difficult to ground them but the outcome of your spells cannot easily be predicted. It takes both a disciplined and experienced witch to harvest the power of the eclipse magic and is certainly not advised for beginners. An alternative to spellcasting can be contemplation and meditation on what you have experienced so far in your life. In addition, it is a good time to honour yourself, the Gods and beings of other worlds.
To take it one step further you may wish to initiate a contact with the Divine Forces. I will use Fairies as an example as they are the beings that I have most experience working with during my life. So during an eclipse you can establish your first connection with the Fairies. Be aware that you must know well why you want to contact fairies and please bear in mind that curiosity is not a good reason.
For all of you who are interested about the Fairies or Sidhe I will prepare a series of articles about them however I am facing some major life changes at the moment and my time is limited (you can blame the eclipses for that :-). In case you want more information about the Fairies you can always contact the Greek Alchemist who will pass the message to me.
Initiating Contact with the Fairies
Now to initiate contact with the Faeries during the eclipse go out in a place which feels familiar and alive. By that I mean a place in Nature that you love either because you felt close with the Fae or because you have really good memories of that place (for example having a good time) or just because that place feels like home. If you don’t feel that there is a specific place in mind then it is better to stay home and meditate about your connection with the Fairies. I am perfectly sure that if you truly want to contact the Fairies your time will come. (Read here how to initiate contact with the Fairies in August Full Moon)
The Sacred Grove
When you arrive at your favorite place make sure you bring an offering. Any offering that you feel that would be appropriate. From my experience sugar, honey, ribbons, wine, milk and fresh fruit are well accepted. Now find a place that feels “right” as with the fairies you must always embrace your intuition. Close your eyes and breathe. Now breathe slowly and deeply. Feel your surroundings, feel the life force in the wind, the trees, the grass, the stones, the water, the ground, the flowers, the animals.
Then extend your mind to those beings that protect this place that surround everything. The guardians, protectors, allies of the Forest, the light that penetrates the darkness, the life that accompanies and embraces all life and there you are Part of the circle, part of life, there breathing deeply and slowly, alive!
My name is (name or magical name) and I am your ally Love brought me here, love is all I feel, love will be with me when I leave with my heart clear Fairies of the Forest hear me well and hear me dear:
The door is open I feel no fear
Me and you we are kith and kin Be with me and guide me That’s all I seek And as I claim so be it!
A wind blowing on your head, a smell of flowers, raindrops or a leaf dropping will be the signs you seek when you open your eyes. Thank the spirits of the Forest, kiss the offering and leave it on the ground or on a rock. Leave the place and don’t look back, say with a smile on your face: “We are One!”
Well done my friend! You can smile as you just made contact with the Fae. Your journey now begins at this very moment on this Eclipse.
The Easy Witch (in all the possible ways
