What clouds there are are at 4500 feet. It’s just thick enough a layer to make the sky milky and the sunlight thin, but there’s plenty of sunlight. Farther east the clouds are thicker. 54F with the wind at 12 and gusts getting up to 20. Still almost no chance of rain as far out as the forecasts go.
Once the newsletter was out yesterday, and I had caught up on mail since Tuesday, I started paying attention to the way I felt and it was awful. I was sleepy and slightly nauseous and a little hungry all at the same time. I kept working on my coffee but it didn’t get better. Tempus got me to take a nap and at least I was a bit more awake, even if I didn’t feel much better, but that changed as the day went on until I was feeling almost normal by suppertime. Dunno what was going on with that….
He finally took off to follow up on a possibility of some more work. It’s just doing some deliveries, but any little bit helps! When he got back he got us some lunch and then worked on cleaning the end of the work table so that I could sew in the evening. He grilled us each another of those potted ham/cheese/sweet pickle sandwiches for lunch. Yum!
Got to talk to our Air Force son for a little while. That was nice. I got hit by 3 smokers and one vaper going past the shop. The wind was apparently coming right into the shop. That wasn’t so nice. At about 7:30 the clouds were rolling in and the light going away. The sun was out all afternoon, though.
Tempus headed out around 9pm while I was doing some more writing. I went outside just before 9:30 to catch the ISS going over and saw that Lisa (the optometrist’s) doors were open so I went over to check and we had a nice chat. Afterwards I went back to more writing.
Eventually, I set up the sewing machine and tried to do some of that. I got some pouches done and a couple of small mending chores and then I didn’t have thread and then I couldn find some of the other pieces…. frustrating… but I got done what I was worrying over.
At 12:50 he had just finished Makai and was starting the Beaver Creek/Bayview Loop, when he called, but he told me, “I was just about nudging it from behind as it ran ahead of me!” of the *bear* that was turning over garbage cans on 130th St.! He was done that loop at 1:40 and he picked me up after he was done with Seal Rock at about 2:45. He dropped me at the apartment and finished the route just at 5am.
We overslept a little this morning, so we’re still getting things open at quarter past, but we’re here and we’re open. Tempus is going to have to run into Newport during the afternoon and we have class tonight. Tempus had to pick up our garbage, too…. two bears? That’s odd for this time of year.
Today’s Plant is Cittim Bark (Cascara), Rhamnus purshiana. It is a potent laxative and has been used for that for centuries. – Masculine, Saturn, Earth – Sprinkle an infusion of this around the home before legal proceedings, to help you win your case. It is used in money spells and worn in a brown cloth amulet will protect again evil influences and hexes. It can be sewn into a poppet to attract those influences away from you, but place this outside at night, especially. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cascara_Sagrada
Today is both Towel Day, in honor of Douglas Adams Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and Geek Pride Day, which is in honor of the first of the Star Wars movies, premiering on May 25, 1977. My Daddy and I were in the long line outside of the theater for that….

Love & Light,
Today’s Astro & Calendar
Waxing Moon Magick – The waxing moon is for constructive magick, such as love, wealth, success, courage, friendship, luck or healthy, protection, divination. Any working that needs extra power, such as help finding a new job or healings for serious conditions, can be done now. Also, love, knowledge, legal undertakings, money and dreams. Phase ends at the Tide Change on 5/29 at 7:20am. Waxing Gibbous Moon – From seven to fourteen days after the new moon. For spells that need concentrated work over a ¼ moon cycle this is the best time for constructive workings. Aim to do the last working on the day of the Full moon, before the turn. Keywords for the Gibbous phase are: analyze, prepare, trust. It is the time in a cycle to process the results of the actions taken during the First Quarter. During this phase you are gathering information. Give up making judgments; it will only lead to worry. Your knowledge is incomplete. Laugh. Analyze and filter. LOOK WITHIN. God/dess aspect: Maiden/Youth, but in the uncommitted phase, the Warriors – Associated God/desses: Dion, Dionysius, Venus, Thor. Phase ends at the Full on 5/27 at 7:20pm.
Using the Moon as your starting point, how early can you pick out Jupiter, then Spica, then 3rd-magnitude Alpha Librae? This frame is about 25° wide. (So as you can see, the Moon is shown about 3 times its actual apparent size.) The waxing gibbous Moon crosses the sky tonight in the company of Spica below it, as shown above.
Look high in the northwest after darkness falls this week and you’ll be greeted by the familiar sight of the Big Dipper. The Dipper is the sky’s most conspicuous asterism — a recognizable pattern of stars that doesn’t form a complete constellation shape. It makes up the body and tail of Ursa Major the Great Bear. Use the Pointers, the two stars at the end of the Dipper’s bowl, to find Polaris, which lies due north for everyone north of the equator. Polaris marks the end of the Little Dipper’s handle. On evenings in late May, the relatively faint stars of this dipper arc directly above Polaris.
Uranus is hidden in the glow of dawn.

Celtic Tree Month of Huath/Hawthorn, May 13 – Jun 9 – I am fair among flowers
Meaning: Being held back for a period of time
Hawthorn – Like willows, hawthorns have many species in Europe, and they are not always easy to tell apart. All are thorny shrubs in the Rose family (Rosaceae), and most have whitish or pinkish flowers. The common hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna Jacq.) and midland hawthorn (Crataegus laevigata (Poiret) DC.) are both widespread. They are common in abandoned fields and along the edges of forests. Both are cultivated in North America, as are several native and Asiatic hawthorns. Curtis Clark

In May, when sea-winds pierced our solitudes,

Spreading its leafless blooms in a damp nook,
To please the desert and the sluggish brook. – Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–82)
Litha Magick – Metta Prayer for Litha (used in ritual, Litha 2013) – This sets up a resonance through the repetitions that creates the magick. You can encourage people to repeat the “May they have a good life”…..It falls in 3 sections which should be separated by the indicated pause…just a breath or so….
May we be safe and protected.
May we be peaceful and happy.
May we be healthy and strong.
May we be content with life.
There are those who put themselves in harm’s way for the rest of us. Let us bring Metta to them.
For all those who fight fires in our communities: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For all those who fight fires in our forests and tend our wild lands: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For all those who mind the weather and issue weather alerts: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong and may they have a good life.
For all those who design and mind the traffic patterns of foot, vehicle or air: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong and may they have a good life.
For all those who tend to our physical and mental health: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For all those who stand between those who would overcome the rest of us by physical force, coercion or violence, our soldiers, our police and all the whistleblowers: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For all those who tend the health of our Mother Gaia: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For our Mother Gaia without whom we would not exist: May she be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may she have a good life.
For all those who tend the safety of our Solar System: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For all those who tend the safety of our Universe: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
For those Watchers in the Outer Dark who tend the safety of all in this life and the next: May they be safe, peaceful, healthy and strong, and may they have a good life.
We honor them for their sacrifice that we may have Metta.
May all beings of the Universe have fresh clean water to drink.
May all beings of the Universe have food & a home.
May all beings of the Universe have someone to share love with.
May all beings of the Universe know their true purpose.
May all beings of the Universe be well & happy right now.
May all beings of the Universe be free from suffering.
So Mote it Be!
