Daily Stuff 9-7-19 Grace Darling

Hi, folks!

Herbs Workshop at 11am. Sewing Workshop at 3pm.

The sky actually looks like rain. It’s quite overcast. 60F, wind at 1mph, AQI29, UV5. They’re talking about maybe some light showers late tonight, but tomorrow might actually be wet! …and then Thursday and Friday are another good chance. Good! We need the water!

Yesterday was projects….trying to put pieces of scattered things together. It’s harder than I ever expect! For some of these there’s a paper pattern, fabric, trims, buttons, edgings…and everything is awfully scattered. For a couple of things, I’m sure that I used pieces for something else, so part of my evening was spent making a list of what I need again.

…and I kept thinking of things and waking myself up with them, so I really didn’t sleep well. That’s going to make today kinda tough.

…but we’re here at the shop. Tempus is making coffee and then he needs to hang some more things that I’ve gotten headered. Herbs is at 11am and Sewing at 3pm.

feast 0907 Lighthouse_LongStone_with_Grace_Darlings_Bedroom_WindowFarne_Islands_NorthumberlandToday’s Feast is in honor of Grace Darling‘s daring deed. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_Darling

‘Twas on the Longstone Lighthouse, there dwelt and English maid;
Pure as the air around her, of danger ne’er afraid;
One morning just at daybreak, a storm-tossed wreck she spied;
And tho’ to try seemed madness, “I’ll save the crew!’ she cried.
And she pull’d away, o’er the rolling sea,
Over the waters blue –
‘Help! Help!’ she could hear the cry of the shipwreck’d crew –
But Grace had an English heart,
And the raging storm she brav’d –
She pull’d away, mid the dashing spray,
And the crew she saved! – Song about Grace Darling, British heroine of the September 7, 1838 disaster

220px-Rhamnus_purshiana,_Cascara_--_branch_with_leaves,_flowers_and_budsToday’s Plant is Cittim Bark (Cascara), Rhamnus purshiana. It is a potent laxative and has been used for that for centuries. –Masculine, Saturn, Earth – Sprinkle an infusion of this around the home before legal proceedings, to help you win your case. It is used in money spells and worn in a brown cloth amulet will protect again evil influences and hexes. It can be sewn into a poppet to attract those influences away from you, but place this outside at night, especially.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cascara_Sagrada

Today’s Astro & Calendar

Waxing Moon MagickThe waxing moon is for constructive magick, such as love, wealth, success, courage, friendship, luck or healthy, protection, divination. Any working that needs extra power, such as help finding a new job or healings for serious conditions, can be done now. Also, love, knowledge, legal undertakings, money and dreams. Phase ends at the Tide Change on 9/13 at 9:33pm. Waxing Gibbous Moon – From seven to fourteen days after the new moon. For spells that need concentrated work over a ¼ moon cycle this is the best time for constructive workings. Aim to do the last working on the day of the Full moon, before the turn. Keywords for the Gibbous phase are: analyze, prepare, trust. It is the time in a cycle to process the results of the actions taken during the First Quarter. During this phase you are gathering information. Give up making judgments; it will only lead to worry. Your knowledge is incomplete. Laugh. Analyze and filter. LOOK WITHIN. God/dess aspect: Maiden/Youth, but in the uncommitted phase, the Warriors – Associated God/desses: Dion, Dionysius, Venus, Thor. Phase ends at the Full on 9/12 at 9:33am.

The waxing Moon will step eastward past Jupiter and Saturn, over Scorpius and Sagittarius. (The blue 10° scale is about the size of your fist at arm’s length.)

Look left of the gibbous Moon at dusk for Saturn. Below the Moon, can you piece out the Sagittarius Teapot?

The waxing gibbous Moon points the way to Saturn this evening. The dazzling Moon lies due south as darkness falls while the magnitude 0.4 planet appears 9° to its left. They inch slightly closer by the time they reach the western horizon after midnight. They are in conjunction with each other after dawn on the 8th, and by evening twilight tomorrow, the planet stands 3° to the Moon’s right. It’s worth checking out Saturn through a telescope, particularly earlier in the week when it’s farther from the Moon’s glare. Even the smallest scope shows the planet’s 17″-diameter disk and its magnificent rings, which span 40″ and tilt 25° to our line of sight.
Mercury, Venus, and Mars are out of sight behind the glare of the Sun.

Mabon Magick – Spells

Giving Thanks Spell – September 22nd, 2006 – Color of the day: White  Incense of the day: Cedar

Known as the Witch’s Thanksgiving, Mabon occurs at the Autumnal Equinox. As the year shifts from light to dark, the focus shifts from the masculine to the feminine, from the God to the Goddess, and from external work to internal reflection. On this day, Lugh, honored at Lughnasadh, sacrifices himself in battle with his dark twin. In Wiccan mythology, the Goddess, full and radiant in her own abundance, waits to give birth to the new Sun god at Yule. Also known as Harvest Home, the Feast of Avalon, Wine Harvest, and the Festival of Dionysus, Mabon can also be seen as a celebration of the god of the vine. In either form, it marks the second harvest and is a time to relax, enjoy, and give thanks for the bounty of the earth. Create an altar with the colors, fruits, and flowers of fall. Decorations could include leaves, grain, acorns, apples, grapes, a cornucopia, the Empress card from your favorite tarot deck, and a picture or statute of Demeter, Persephone, Lugh, or Dionysus. Light an orange or rust candle, and reflect on all that you have harvested in the past year. Light another candle in thanks for each item or event, saying: “Thank you, Lady, for your great gift of abundance.” End by raising a chalice containing a small amount of juice, wine, or mead, saying: “Thank you, Lord, for your gift of sacrifice and bounty.” Take one sip, and then go outside and offer the rest in libation to the earth. Let the candles burn down and leave the altar, adding fresh items as needed, until Samhain. – By: Lady MoonDance

Attracting Wellness Spell – Pagan Studies
The energy of this spell is intended to give a boost to your health and to be a palliative in the face of the upcoming “flu months.”

Light a green candle. Place a glass of water between you and the green candle.

State these words: “Spirit guides, healers, and angels allow me to act as a channel for your healing rays. Energy on.”

Visualize a ray of energy entering your crown. Allow this ray to stream through your body with each breath. Visualize healing and balance being restored to your body. Use your intuition to indicate when the energy has reached its fullness within you. At the point of fullness, hold your hands over the water and visualize the ray stretching from your hands into the water. This action allows you to ground the ray’s energy into the water. As this grounding occurs, the water also become “activated” with the healing properties of the energy.

Thank the spirit guides, healers, and angels for their energy and say: “Energy off.”

Unless a doctor recommends you do not, drink at least eight glasses of activated water daily. ~ Karen Follett from- GrannyMoon’s Coventry of Healing Arts and Pagan Studies
